Bush Motorcase Passes War Protesters

By DEB RIECHMANN (Direct descendent of Joseph Stalin! - tha malcontent)
Associated Press Writer August 12, 2:05PM EST

CRAWFORD, Texas
(AP) From the window of his limousine, President Bush got a motorcade view of more than 100 anti-war protesters camped outside his ranch as he rode to a political fund-raiser Friday near his spread. Bush did not stop.

(ap) - That opening paragraph is so Ripe with Bitterness, Resentment and Anger, that if Deb was to deny it when asked, I would laugh in her face... Literally.  I read that, and I had to wonder if the AP let one of the Protestors camped out in front of White House II write it!  "His limousine"... "His spread"... Of course, he "left for a Fundraiser", which I am sure the "Free Press" was waiting for... As if Bush (43) only leaves his "Spread" to go raise money.  I will bet you any amount of money, that this story, as with every other AP account of this Mother, will not mention that she has changed her story about her first visit with Bush (43).  Let's read along and find out, mmmkay!  For the record, the Error in the headline, was on both the teaser, and on the main story page... Not my error, so I am not about to Correct it! - tha malcontent)

Law enforcement agencies used their cars to block two intersecting roads, where the demonstrators have camped out all week, and required them to stand behind yellow tape. They were not asked to leave their makeshift campsite.

Cindy Sheehan, a California mother leading the protesters, held a sign that read: "Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"

(Aside from the Fact that you are a Tool of Idiots like Al Franken, the Primary reason is because he already met with you, and you have no Intention of Talking with him, you are Openly calling him a Murderer on a daily basis... With all due Respect to the Son who's Blood not only you are swimming in, but you are allowing Scum like Randi Rhodes and Al Franken to swim in, you are NEVER going to be in the presence of the POTUS again.  I Pray that one day you can find Honest Closure regarding the Result of the Conscience Choice your Son made to Volunteer for War.- tha malcontent)

It's unclear whether Bush, riding in a black Suburban with tinted windows, looked at the demonstrators as his caravan passed. He arrived before noon, local time, at a neighbor's ranch for a barbecue where he was expected to raise at least $2 million for the Republican National Committee, said RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt.

("Bush, riding in a black Suburban..."?... Eh?... "From the window of his limousine..."  Which is it, AP?  I searched for a picture, but after a couple of failed attempts, I realized that searching for that kind of thing could cause me to be visited by Suits! - tha malcontent)

Some 230 people attended the fund-raiser at Stan and Kathy Hickey's Broken Spoke Ranch, a 478-acre spread next to Bush's ranch. All have contributed at least $25,000 to the RNC, and many are "rangers," an honorary campaign title bestowed on those who raised $200,000 or more for Bush, or "pioneers," those who have raised $100,000 or more.

(Again with the "spread" Pejorative... You and I don't have "spreads", cause we are not Privileged Daddy's Boys, huh Deb! - tha malcontent)

On Thursday, Bush had acknowleded that some families of U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq want to bring the troops home now, but he said that would be a big mistake.

(Deb and her Editors are having issues this fine day... In the age of automatic spell-check, things like this should never happen, Deb!  At least this one happened further into the story than anyone but me would read, as opposed to her "Motorcase" error in the headline!  The big red squiggly line under a word, means you made a boo-boo, mmmkay! - tha malcontent)

"Pulling the troops out would send a terrible signal to the enemy," he said.

(Retreat and Failure... That is what the Left wants in every War we are Engaged in, and if they have their way, they will relive Vietnam again, and before you know it, they will be spitting on returning Soldiers and calling them Baby-killers!... Just like they did back in the late 60's and early 70's. - tha malcontent)

Speaking to reporters at his ranch, the president noted that the United States sent more soldiers to Iraq and Afghanistan before elections and was considering doing so again before another round of Iraqi elections in December.

Reports that the Pentagon may increase or decrease troop levels in Iraq next year were simply "speculation and rumors," he said between meetings Thursday with his military and foreign affairs advisers.

Gen. George Casey, the top commander in Iraq, has said repeatedly that "fairly substantial" reductions were expected after the election if the political process stayed on track, if the insurgency did not expand and if the training of Iraqi security forces proceeded as planned.

Bush said he would make any decision to remove troops based on recommendations by Casey, who gave a briefing by videolink during the president's ranch meeting with advisers.

(Memo to the Dishonest Left: The President is really never on "Vacation", and I think if you were being Honest, instead of being Bastards, you would remember that you said the same thing in Defense of (42).  Of course, Clinton was on Vacation nearly 100% of the time that he wasn't Sexually Abusing Unpaid Interns his Daughter's age, in the Oval Office, while on the phone with a Congressman discussing Troop Deployments! - tha malcontent)

"My position has been clear, and therefore, the position of this government is clear," Bush said. "Obviously, the conditions on the ground depend upon our capacity to bring troops home."

The president said Casey reported that Iraqi security units were becoming more capable, although he acknowledged they were not ready to work alone without support from U.S. forces. He described the Iraqis' progress as improving from "raw recruit" to "plenty capable."

"I know it's hard for some Americans to see that progress," Bush said. "But we are making progress."

(The vast majority of the time in Iraq, GOOD things are happening, but a handful of roadside bombs gives the "Free Press" just enough Negativity to then give "the People" nothing but... It's hard for many Americans in their busy Lives to see that progress for that reason, Mr. President... I know you know that, but that's what I am here for!  The President is above this kind of gutter Politics that he is Attacked with every day, and he should be above it. - tha malcontent)

As for bringing the troops home, the president said he had "heard the voices of those saying, `Pull out now.'"

"I've thought about their cry and their sincere desire to reduce the loss of life by pulling our troops out. I just strongly disagree," he said.

Bush spoke as Sheehan sat on the road outside his ranch with a growing group of war protesters. Sheehan's son, Casey, was killed five days after he arrived in Iraq last year at age 24.

(Her Son Volunteered, and was Proud of his Service... It's too bad that this already Confused and Grieving Woman has been Molested by the Scum at Moveon.org and Err Amerika this way! - tha malcontent)

Sheehan began her standoff on Saturday, declaring she would stay for the entire month that Bush plans to stay in Texas if he won't meet with her. Since then, dozens of other activists have joined her, including at least three other parents who have lost children in the war, although the protesters began facing increased antagonism Thursday from locals and opposition from other military families.

(He met with her, and she was more than pleased with it at the time... Then she brooded, and Leftists Activists prodded! - tha malcontent)

"The president says he feels compassion for me, but the best way to show that compassion is by meeting with me and the other mothers and families who are here," Sheehan said. "All we're asking is that he sacrifice an hour out of his five-week vacation to talk to us, before the next mother loses her son in Iraq."

(She is either so Distraught by her Son's Death, or she is a Liar.  She has met with him, and was happy about it.  She is no different than any other Mother who has lost a Child in Iraq, except that she DID meet with the President, and is now Abusing that Gesture on his part for Political Reasons. - tha malcontent)

An AP-Ipsos poll early this month showed just 38 percent of respondents approved of Bush's handling of Iraq. More than 1,840 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the war in March 2003

(AP-Ipsos is the AP's new Vehicle for Shaping Public Opinion... I will have more on them in the future. - tha malcontent)

"I sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan," Bush said. "She feels strongly about her position. She has every right in the world to say what she believes. This is America."

(Homie don't play that... End of list.  It really Irritates the Left how easily POTUS Disregards them and the people they Abuse for Political gain! - tha malcontent)

The White House put out an accounting of all the meetings that Bush has had with families of the war dead 900 relatives of 272 people who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sheehan met the president in June 2004 but said she deserves another visit since there have been so many revelations about faulty prewar intelligence since then.

(Until this Woman surfaced, the Left was Lying about Bush (43) on this subject... They claimed he needed to meet with Families, as if he had not... Now one of them is barking, and suddenly the Nation learns that he has been meeting with Families.   As for this story, the AP FAILED to mention that she was more than pleased with her first visit with Bush (43) at the time... Predictable as my morning bowel.  Nice job making me Right, as always, AP!  Until next time! - tha malcontent)
